The 4 Best Writing Tools You’ve Never Heard Of

These not-so-common tools will give your posts a big boost

Writing a tip-top Medium article that gets curated takes getting quite a few things right. Right off the bat, you’ll need to make sure your title is on-point and will draw in the clicks. To make things look good, you’ll need a high-quality image that’s free from copyright. On top of those, your content better be well written and valuable to your readers.

Luckily, there are a few great tools to help us. I’m not talking about the basic Unsplash for images or the commonly touted Grammarly for editing. It’s time to go a few steps further and use tools that will give your articles a real boost in clicks, views, reads, and delivering value to readers.

Getting the best images

Unsplash is a great tool for getting high-quality images but I must say it’s very limited in its selection. The best images available are those with people in them. Sadly, it falls short on other styles of photos such as cities, food, landscapes, and nature.

Pixabay is another source of copyright-free images. It has a much wider variety of high-quality images in the categories where Unsplash falls short. It has all the same features too, like various image resolutions and an automatically generated link back to the author that you can copy. I still use Unsplash sometimes, mainly for photos with people in them. But Pixabay covers all the other categories.

Some other resources for free-use images are Pexels, Burst, and The Stocks. They have some minor similarities and differences between Unsplash and Pixabay. Still, they provide a nice alternative if you can’t find anything you like on those other sites.
